SOME BACKGROUND

Power Contractors was established in 1950 by the brothers Gerhard and Heinz Waurick. In those early days, most of the work done was in the field of heavy current. The company soon gained an excellent reputation for its innovative approach to projects involving alternator control panels, low and medium voltage distribution boards and automatic control systems. A keen interest in the small-scale generation of power, especially hydro, was already established in those days, an interest which still exists today.

Right from the start agency agreements were concluded with several German Manufacturers, including Gossen (Now Gilgen Muller Wiegert or GMW) and Weigel and HVR International for the VDR Range of surge protection systems.

In 1972 Gerhard's son Peter Waurick a Pr.Eng Electrical Engineer, joined the Company and the emphasis moved gradually towards electronic measuring techniques, especially transducers. Projects handled were mainly in the field of instrumentation, measurement and maximum demand control. Heavy current work has been done on many sites throughout South Africa over the years and we still support a number of Hydro Electric Power Stations in South Africa and Swaziland.

PRESENT DAY

The present owner Leon Clulee joined the company in 2015. Leon is a PrEng Electrical Engineer with a GCC. We are intent on expanding our current product range and offering more quality engineering design and project solutions. We are affiliated to ECSA and the SAIEE. Our current focus is on Electrical Transducers, Specialized Panel Meters, Voltage Dependent Resistors, Radio Links and Load Monitoring and Load Shedding Solutions, Machine Automation and Plant Process Control. We still support some Hydro Electric Power Stations and provide some innovative off-site energy Monitoring solutions for our clients. Leon also acts as a consulting engineer for CKR Consulting Engineers with the prime focus on providing Electrical Engineering Solutions to Data Centre Projects across South Afrca.

We have a wide range of customers who purchase our Transducers and associated Panel Meters, but we also have a customer base who utilize our specialized Solutions. Amongst these are:
